So I was invited to be part of this project and illustrated the month of December! ♥

Now here’re the details:

On Sunday December 4th 2011, our highly anticipated 2012 Handprinted Calendar will be available for sale at our storefront in Kensington Market. You can also pick up an early copy at Handmade Holiday, Saturday December 3rd, St. Stephen-in-the-Fields. The calendar is a limited edition of 125 copies, with only 100 available for sale at $80 each.

If you are unfamiliar with the project, the concept is to take 12 artists and produce a calendar with each artist choosing one month to illustrate and only two colours to pull it off. There are no guidelines on layout or how the information is presented, the artist has full control. The entire calendar is screen printed by hand from the cover, right through to the backing.

Calendars will be available for sale at Kid Icarus, and other locations (TBA).

Here’s some delayed (+latest) updates.

Puppy Heels got selected as one of the CAPIC Rodeo³ Top 30 images.
It will be displayed on the CAPIC website until April 2012.

Boat Neck got selected in CQ23 as a winner,
and will be published in Issue 23 of Creative Quarterly due out in Summer 2011.
It’s now posted on the Creative Quarterly Online Gallery: CQ23.
To take a sneak peak of the issue, it’s here.

Finger Wave got selected as a runner up in CQ24,
and will be reproduced online in Fall 2011 coinciding with the publication of Creative Quarterly 24.

By the way, I finally graduated (yay)! and the 3 images above are some of my thesis pieces.

I’m currently having a group show with my friends at Art Square Gallery.
Parts of my thesis work will be exhibited at the gallery from June 21 to July 4.

           It will be published in the 3×3 Illustration Annual No. 8 due out in Fall 2011. (Updated June 26, 2011)

因為是 Halloween 前後辦的 show 所以照片都要調得暗暗糊糊的…
…not. 其實是因為用了三百年的親愛小相機該退休了
最近很少拍照, 反正也默默覺得拍出來的畫素都不甚滿意
然後又沒錢買新相機…
嗚..我要哭了我

所以說我在這次的 group show 總共展出了4幅畫
其實它們算是截取自我更早之前畫的捲軸系列
前年暑假拿了 book binding 後做了更新版+安鳩手工捲軸盒
本來一度想說直接展出就不用重畫了
不過13個人分一個 gallery, 捲軸本身總長 190 inches 左右..
如果硬來我大概會被排擠吧

最後雖然只取了其中四個故事來畫 (算是故事吧我想..有興趣了解的人可以到 這裡啦這裡 . 但也只有 title 就是了)
不過最小一幅 23″ x 8.5″, 最大的也有 35.5″ x 12″
墨水在毛筆上不怎麼聽話
rice paper 又不怎麼 forgiving
一不小心就得重頭來過
(I actually redid 2 times for the mermaid one + 1 time for the snow white one + 1 time for the swan lake one.)
而且那麼剛好又總是在快要完成時才出錯..真的是..

本來也應該拍一下另外 12 位美女畫家的作品
總之就是我的小相機太不爭氣了
嗚..我又要哭了我

Here’s something I did for the 6th floor OCAD wallspace recently.

Diana helped me to trace my image onto the wall. ♥
It took us around umm.. 6+ hours(?!) to finish tracing the whole image that day!

It took me several days to finish painting the wall.
That stupid purple paint I got was a nightmare! I had to do 3+ layers in order for it to look opaque on the wall.
(And thanks to Ko for helping me with the 2nd layer of the purple body parts.)

Hey Chubby, don’t go! 你鼻要走～

So the wall illustration will stay up until late April when it will be painted over.
Please drop by and play with chubbies if you’re around. Chubbies are shy but they like friends. ♥

Oh, almost forgot to mention, so the mural was (kinda) based on the thesis I’ve been working on.
I’m doing the final two pieces now, but I still want to redo/retouch some of the earlier pieces.
So that means no sleep for me until like…end of April!! ahhhhhhh!!!

p.s: If you’re interested in this year’s OCAD Graduate Exhibition, it’s from May 5th to May 8th..I think.

It arrived!

其實我12月就收到了
準確一點來說, 應該是本人生日當天正要出門前
發現它時親愛的媽咪已經把它收進來擺在大門旁的小矮櫃上
打開外面包裝的小紙盒,它就乖乖地躺在那裡
大概是趕著要來跟我 Happy Birthday 吧
真是個好孩子

然後幾天後我跑到附近的書店
看到書架上的它的兄弟姊妹們時, 心中真是有一股說不出的興奮
默默站在書架前, 翻開書頁後看到我親愛的小小 Chubbies 們更有一種奇妙的感覺
大概就是..久別重逢後在沙灘慢動作跑步後然互相擁抱..的感覺
希望當時波濤洶湧的心路歷程沒有被旁邊的陌生人發現
我這個人很低調的

能夠跟偶像們的作品放在同一本書裡..
安鳩, 這真是太神奇啦!

突然間又聽到屋內有不明物體走動的窸窣聲

我心想大概是外星人然後趕緊撥打911

當我試圖跟警方講出家裡地址卻又頻頻講錯然後內心緊張地想著我一定要清醒一點清醒一點然後我就醒了.
